River Rom
As part of the EC H2020 NAIAD project a series of real time flood alert gauges and Natural Flood Management (Nature Based Solution) monitoring systems have been installed in river basins throughout Europe.  These gauges are low cost, open source designs developed as part of the FreeStation project.  Below is live data from the gauges in the Rise Park Stream NFM (River Rom).  Further information on this gauge can be found here.  The data shows live hourly and daily mean water level behind the NFM (and thus the volume of water stored).  Live  air pressure and temperature data are also shown alongside a 5 day forecast of the same.

As part of the Land of the Fanns Landscape Partnership Scheme which is funded by the National Lottery, Thames21 have installed two leaky dams in a Havering woodland upstream of the A127 road culvert prone to flooding.  It is hoped that water will be held back by the leaky dams,  thus allowing the A127 culvert to drain better under flood conditions.  These devices monitor the behaviour of the dam.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 730497.
